How to care for your Scented Candle and Home Decor

CANDLE CARE

Stable Surface

Before lightning, remove all stickers or decorations. Always place your candle on a flat and stable surface to ensure an even melt.

Wick Trimming

Trim the wick to 6 mm (1/4 inch) before every burn. This helps maximize burn time and prevents sooting. If your candle starts to soot, the wick is likely too long. Extinguish the flame, trim the wick, and relight.

Burning

The Serene Candle & The Bold Candle: For the first burns, allow your candle to burn for a full 4 hours until the entire surface has melted (a full melt pool). This prevents tunneling.
The Classic Candle: Burn your for 4 hours each time. A full melt pool may not reach the edges until the 7th or 8th burn.
Due to the insulating nature of the jar, the candle may take several burn sessions to reach a complete melt pool. This is typical for this type of jar.

Timing

To avoid sooting, extinguish your candle once a full melt pool has formed. Do not burn for more than 4 hours at a time.

Snuffer

Use a snuffer to safely extinguish the flame and reduce smoke and soot. Hold the snuffer over the flame until it is completely extinguished. Avoid letting the snuffer touch the melted wax.

Fire safety

Always place your candle on a fire resistant surface. Keep your candle away from anything flammable.

Hot Jar

Please be aware that the candle jar can get hot during use. Never burn your candle in a cracked jar. Stop burning the candle when only 1 cm wax remains in the jar.

Stay

Never leave your burning candle unattended.

Pets & Children

Keep your candle out of reach of children and pets.

Storage

Store your candle in a cool, dark place, away from direct sunlight, heat and drafts. Drafts may cause flickering or smoking, leading to soot marks on the jar. Sunlight can fade colors and diminish fragrance. When not in use, keep your candle in the original packaging.

Home Decor Care

Decorative use

Our Home Decor pieces are made of an eco-friendly, durable and heat-resistent material, but they are intended for decorative use only. They are not food-safe or dishwasher safe, and we do not recommend placing food or liquids on them.

Water resistant

Our pieces are water-resistant but not waterproof. The material is porous and can absorb liquids, which may lead to staining if exposed for extended periods.

While each piece is sealed for added protection, prolonged contact with liquids can still result in marks. To prevent staining, it’s important to act quickly if a spill occurs. Gently dap the area with a dry cloth. Avoid rubbing, as this can push the liquid deeper into the material.

Allow the piece to air dry completely before using it again.

Handle with Care

While the material is durable, it should still be handled with care to avoid chipping or breakage.

No two items are exactly alike. Each piece is individually crafted by hand, making it truly one of a kind. Variations in color, texture, and finish are part of what makes your piece unique.

Tiny air bubbles may appear on the surface. These are a natural part of the process and something we refer to as Jesmonite freckles. They’re a testament to the handmade nature of each piece.

Temperature

While our pieces are flame-resistant and carefully sealed by hand for added UV protection, we still recommend keeping them out of direct sunlight and away from high heat sources such as ovens.

Extended exposure to intense heat or direct sunlight may cause discoloration over time.

Cleaning

For regular maintenance, lightly dust with a soft, dry cloth.

To clean your piece, gently wipe it with a soft, damp cloth. If needed, rinse briefly under warm water, then dry immediately with a clean cloth. Allow the piece to dry completely before using it again.

Avoid using harsh chemicals, abrasive materials, or scrubbing, as these can damage the surface.

Candle jar cleaning

Our Jesmonite candle jars are designed to be reused and repurposed in your home. Once the wax has finished, scoop out any leftover wax with a spoon, then wipe the surface clean with a dry cloth or paper towel. You can also use a white eraser to remove soot marks. Both methods are safe and won’t damage the surface. You can repurpose the jar as a sophisticated makeup brush holder, a stylish desk organizer, for pens and tools, or a minimalist decor peace.
